Susan Brown is the Owner and Operator of The Dorise Brown Fitness & Learning Academy, LLC, S&J Learning Academy, LLC, and S&J 2, LLC.

Before transitioning to early childhood education, Susan dedicated 30 years to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, retiring as an Institutional Inspector and Deputy Warden at the Toledo Correctional Institution. In this role, she oversaw two-thirds of the prison’s departments, including education, medical, mental health, recovery services, community services, food services, warehouse, commissary, and business operations. Driven by a desire to make a difference, she shifted her focus to early care and education, believing in the power of working with young people before they enter the correctional system.

Susan holds an A.A.S. in Business from Sinclair Community College and a B.A.S. from the University of Toledo. She also earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs and The Fundraising School at the Center on Philanthropy. Additionally, she has maintained her Child Development Associate (CDA) Preschool certification for the past six years.

Susan has been married to her husband, Jerry L. Brown, for 34 years and is the proud mother of two adult sons and grandmother to three grandchildren.
